The Tybee Island Lighthouse is participating in Super Museum Sunday and offering free entrance to the Lighthouse on Sunday, February 8, 2015. This is a great opportunity to tour the lighthouse and the grounds.
The historic role of the Lighthouse was to guide and protect sailors as they approached the shore. The beacon led them away from harm and guided them safely to the shores. This is your chance to take a tour of the well-maintained historical treasure and the keepers cottage. If you feel fit enough, climb the 178 steps to the top for a spectacular breathtaking view of Tybee, Savannah, Daufuskie Islands, and Hilton Head. The Lighthouse museum is composed of both the lighthouse and of Fort Screven.
Visit the Lighthouse on Sunday from 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m., located at 30 Meddin Avenue, Tybee Island. Call 912.786.5801 for more information.
